Free Printable First Day of School Signs (2023-2024 School Year)

It’s crazy to think that in just a few short weeks, kids will begin going back to school. This summer is really flying by! What better way to capture your kid’s first day of school than a photo of them holding an adorable sign. And that is why I have created a set of free printable first day of school signs for pre-school all the way up to 12th grade.

This year, however, is definitely one for the books! So much has changed about attending school over this past year. With some children attending classes in person, others going virtually, and some doing a combination of both, education definitely looks different than it has in years past.

But however school looks for your children this year, the start of new school year is always something to remember. And what better way to remember their first day than taking a picture holding a cute sign?

I have created updated signs that you can use all the way from preschool up through 12th grade. How nice would it be for not only you, but your kids to look back at these photos throughout the years and see how much they have changed!

I think that one of the best parts about these first day of school signs is that you can print them out at the last minute. Or if you are really last minute (I’m talking the school bus is already at the end of the block kind of last minute!) just open up the pdf on your phone or tablet and snap a quick picture. You’ve got to love technology these days right?!

Each first day of school sign is sized to fit on a standard 8.5×11 inch piece of paper. For the best quality I would highly recommend printing on white cardstock. These signs would also look great in a nice frame as well!

Have your children fill out the printable questionnaire before the start of each school year. Make sure to tape a photo of them to the page, or even have them draw a self portrait!
