4th of July Mason Jar Cookies | Free Printable Recipe Tag

4th of July is fast approaching. Here’s an idea for what to bring to this year’s BBQ: Patriotic 4th of July Cookies! This DIY gift will be much appreciated by anyone who receives it. All the dry ingredients are portioned out in mason jars to make delicious soft baked cookies with red, white and blue M&Ms. Print out the free recipe tag, and add some ribbon to complete this simple host/hostess gift.

Supplies needed to assemble one jar:

• Pint size glass jars
• 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup granulated sugar
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
• Red/White/Blue M&Ms
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• Red, white and blue ribbon
• Scissors
• Hole Punch
• Cardstock

Before you start filling with ingredients you should definitely wash the jar. Just make sure to dry it very well or the flour and sugars will end up sticking to the sides.

Combine 3/4 cup of flour, 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt in a bowl. Pour the mixture in the jar as the first layer.

Next, measure 1/2 cup of red/white/blue M&Ms. (If you can’t find them in store, they’re available on Amazon here).

Add 1/4 cup brown sugar as the next layer in the jar.

Lastly, measure out 1/3 cup granulated sugar and add that as the final layer.

After sealing the jar tightly, it’s time to decorate! I picked up some red, white and blue ribbon, tied it around the top of the closed jar and curled the ribbon with scissors.

Make sure to leave a little extra ribbon to tie the recipe card to.
