When is Earth Day?

Earth Day is April 22nd! It is a wonderful reason to celebrate our planet and think about all of the ways we can take care of it.

How do you play the I Spy Game?

Count how many of each picture you see in the box above and then write down the correct number on the lines.

Here is a tip: If you are playing the Earth Day I Spy game with younger kids, you can have them draw an X over each image as they count them to make it easier.

Another alternative is to color in each picture as they count them. Not only is this a great way to extend the length of time that the kids are working on the game, but it also adds a fun creative element to it.

In this game, you will be searching for and counting the following Earth Day themed items:

  • Grass
  • Butterfly
  • Sun
  • Bird
  • Earth
  • Waves
  • Leaves
  • Mountain
  • Tree

How to make the Earth Day I Spy Game reusable:

Since this is a holiday themed activity, you might want to reuse the game and have your kids or students work on the activity year after year. Here are a couple of ways that you can do this.

You can use a home lamination machine.
If you have a lamination machine at home, you can use it to laminate the I spy games. This way, you can simply use dry erase markers and wipe off the marker as you are done. Then, you can store away the activity for the next year.

This is the lamination machine that I currently have and I can definitely recommend it!

You can use dry erase pockets.
If you don’t have a lamination machine, you can also use these cool dry erase pockets and use dry erase markers to work on the I spy game. Simply print out the game, put it inside the pocket and get to work!

For both of these reusable options, I would definitely recommend printing the games out on white cardstock to make sure that the activities hold up well year after year.

Favorite Printable Supplies:

These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use for printable games and activities:

  • White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
  • Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
  • Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
  • Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
  • Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
  • Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
  • Printer: A high quality printer is always recommended for the best results. If you are in need of a printer this Brother Wireless Printer is a great choice.
