Thanksgiving is a time for family and friends. What better way to celebrate getting together this time of year than playing games? This free printable Thanksgiving Matching Game is a fun activity that is easy enough for young children to play while still being enjoyable for older kids as well as adults.

How to play the Thanksgiving Matching Game

My favorite thing about matching games is that it’s a great activity for both kids and adults to play together, making it the perfect bonding activity while getting together with family this Thanksgiving season.

Here is how to play:

First, print out the matching cards (the free printable download link is located at the bottom of this post)

Second, cut along the dotted lines to separate the 32 cards.

Next, shuffle the cards and then place them face down on a table in a grid pattern. There are 16 pairs in this set. If you are playing with younger kids, feel free to use only 5-7 pairs to make it a bit easier.

To play, each person will take their turn flipping over two cards at a time, the goal being to find a matching pair.

If someone finds a match, they place both cards in a pile. If no match is found, turn both cards back over and then it is now the next players turn. The game continues on like this until all of the matches are found.

The player with the most pairs at the end of the game is the winner!

Favorite Supplies:

These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use and LOVE!

• White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
• Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
• Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
• Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
• Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
• Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
• Printer: A high quality printer is always recommended for the best results. If you are in need of a printer this Brother Wireless Printer is a great choice.

Free Printable Thanksgiving Matching Game

This activity was designed to be printed onto two 8.5×11 inch pieces of white printer paper. For the best results, I would highly recommend printing onto cardstock and also laminating if possible.

The cardstock will ensure that the design isn’t able to be seen through the back of the paper and the lamination will improve their durability and ability to be used over and over again.
