This free printable build your own monster coloring page is a wonderfully fun activity to keep the kids entertained and having fun on a rainy day at home!
Right now, my oldest son is into all things scary and loud. Dinosaurs, construction vehicles and of course monsters.
You will often find him running around the house screaming like a monster trying to scare anyone that he can. He thinks it is the funniest thing in the word and I think it’s adorable. (Unless he plays monster when the baby is sleeping, and that’s a different story!).
No matter what time of year, Halloween or not, he is always wanting to pretend to be a loud monster. Me however, I don’t always have the energy to run around the house and play pretend to be a monster too.
And that is where the inspiration for today’s printable activity comes in! I wanted to create this fun free printable build your own monster coloring page as a way to fix my son’s monster playing itch, on the days that I’m a bit too tired to run around the house.
We also like to keep a few of the kids’ artwork project prominently displayed on the fridge. Currently we still have the project he created from the build your own snowman coloring page hanging up there. And so I thought it’s time for some non seasonal artwork to replace it for now!

I really love making these “build your own” printables for my kids. Over the past year or so I have been trying to design a bunch of coloring pages for various holidays and seasons.
These coloring pages offer so many different opportunities for kids to practice new skills as well. Between hand eye coordination coloring in the pieces, scissor skills (if they are old enough!) gluing, and putting together a puzzle, there are definitely some fun learning opportunities to be had as well.
Speaking of scissor skills, I would highly recommend these Melissa and Doug Child-Safe Scissors. They are safe for kids but surprisingly still cut paper very well. My mom had gotten my son a pair of these last Christmas and I am so glad to finally have some kid friendly scissors in the house.
And of course, you get some brand new kid created artwork to hang on that refrigerator.
And today, I’m happy to share one these printable coloring pages with you!
