Whenever I am creating these types of crafts I usually start off by making them for my kids. They love them and it’s always great to have little product testers before posting to the blog for everyone else to download.

With that being said, my boys are into typical boy things. Cars, trucks, dinosaurs, monsters etc. Since I am usually creating with them in mind, I often forget the crafts more typically aimed at little girls.

Due to this, I recently ran a poll asking my subscribers what type of printable they would like to see. By far the most requested free printable for me to create was something about unicorns! I thought this was a great idea and so today I am excited to share with you this fun free printable build a unicorn craft.

Materials needed for this project:

  • Free printable template (the download link is located at the bottom of this post)
  • White printer paper or cardstock
  • Crayons, markers or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Construction paper

How to use the build a unicorn craft.

The first thing you will want to do is print out the pdf template onto standard white printer paper or cardstock. Next, using colored pencils, markers, crayons or any other art supplies you have, color in and decorate the different parts of the unicorn.

The next step is to cut out each part of the unicorn. If your child is able to safely use scissors this can be a great time for them to practice their scissor skills. If your child is younger or unable to use scissors, you can help with this part.

Finally, begin gluing all of the pieces of the unicorn together in the correct spots. There is a small picture of what the unicorn should look like at the bottom of the template page. However, if it doesn’t turn out exactly like the sample, that’s okay! As long as everyone is having fun and being creative, that is all that matters.

Once the unicorn has been glued together, if they would like your child can decorate the background if they would like with objects such as clouds, rainbows, stars etc.

Then the project can be hung up on the wall or the fridge for display!
