With all that being said, sometimes the packaging that gift cards arrive in can be boring and generic. It can be fun to personalize a gift card holder and even more fun that your kids can help make their teacher’s gift.
This gift card holder is super easy to print and put together with minimal supplies. It also makes for a quick last minute present that I’m sure teachers will greatly appreciate.
Supplies needed:
- Free Printable Gift Card Template (the download link is located at the bottom of this post).
- White cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Tape
- Gift card
- Pen or marker

How to assemble the crayon gift card holder
The first thing you are going to want to do is print out the design onto a piece of white cardstock. While regular printer paper can work in a pinch, I would definitely highly recommend using cardstock for the best results.
Cardstock is much more durable and will be better able to securely hold the gift card in place.
Next, cut out all of the shapes on the template page. On the front of the design you will see a box outlined with dotted lines. Make sure to cut this out using either scissors or an xacto knife. This is where the top tab will be inserted.
What I did here was simply poke a pen inside the dotted lines and then used scissors to easily cut out the small rectangle.
Continue by folding back all of the white tabs as well as the front of the design.
Place glue on the tabs of the back of the design and then fold over the front of the template to secure it in place.
Next, fold back and glue the top piece to the inside of the back of the template.
Fold the top piece down to see your closed crayon box come to life!
Finally, attach a gift card to the marked space on the crayons. Simply slide the crayons into the crayon box and you now have an adorable way to display a gift card for your favorite teacher!

These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use for printable games and activities:
- White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
- Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
- Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
- Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
- Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
- Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
