Every year in our town there is a big St. Patrick’s Day parade. The streets are packed with people wearing green and holding flags and shamrocks. It’s a ton of fun and everyone always looks forward to it.
I thought that this year, before we go to the parade, I could have my kids make their very own St. Patrick’s Day hats. They both love coloring and this free printable St. Patrick’s Day hat is the perfect holiday craft that allows for creativity and fun!
With only a small amount of supplies, kids can color in and put together their very own hat to wear this St. Patrick’s Day.
Not only is this activity great for parents wanting to plan a fun craft for their kids at home, but it is also perfect for classroom parties as well.
Supplies needed to create one St. Patricks’s Day hat
- White cardstock (you can also use printer paper, however cardstock is definitely recommended for the best quality hat)
- Crayons, markers or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Tape or glue
How to assemble the St. Patrick’s Day hat

Next, color in the St. Patrick’s Day hat using crayons, markers or other art supplies. Afterwards you can cut out all of the pieces. If the child is old enough to use scissors this would also make a great practice of scissors skills.
Glue or tape one of the side sections to either the right or left side of the middle of the hat piece. If someone needs to have a larger hat, you can also tape or glue the second side section to the middle hat piece also.
Next, wrap the hat around the child’s head and then tape it into place. Afterwards, you can cut off any extra paper from the side sections of the hat if needed.
