Whether you need a classroom activity, something to do on a rainy day, or a fun game to play at a holiday party, this free printable St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt is just what you need!
How do you set up and play the scavenger hunt game?
First, cut out each of the St. Patrick’s Day themed images. Using tape or mounting putty, stick the images around the house, the classroom, or even outside!
Depending on which age group you will be playing with, you can hide the St. Patrick’s Day images in easier or more challenging areas. This scavenger hunt can easily be played over and over again by simply changing up the spots where you hide each graphic.
After all the images have been hidden, you can give each child a blank scavenger hunt checklist. (It might even be fun to give them clipboards to use!) The kids can now go around the house, classroom etc. and check off each St. Patrick’s Day item off the list as they find them.
Once they have found all of the items, they can bring the completed checklist page back to you and maybe even receive a small prize or sticker in return!
Supplies needed:
- Scavenger hunt pdf (the download link is available at the bottom of this post)
- Scissors
- Pencils, pens, crayons or markers
- Mounting putty or tape
- (Optional) Lamination machine and laminating sheets
- (Optional) Dry erase markers
How to ensure that your scavenger hunt holds up year after year.
A great way to make sure that your scavenger hunt game is able to be reused year after year is to laminate both the checklist page and the individual St. Patrick’s Day images. This is the home lamination machine that I actually have in my office and I’m kind of obsessed with it!
All you need to do is laminate the graphic pages and the checklist pages. Cut out the individual graphics and then use a dry erase marker to check off each image from the checklist page as you find them.
Once the children are finished playing with the scavenger hunt game, you can store away the checklist and graphics for the next year.
Free Printable St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt Game
This free printable St. Patrick’s Day scavenger hunt game is designed to print on 3 standard sized 8.5×11 inch pieces of paper. For the highest quality, I would definitely recommend printing the pages onto white cardstock. Especially the graphics pages so that you can reuse the St. Patrick’s Day themed images over and over again each year, without having to worry about them holding up over time.
Once everything is printed, cut out each St. Patrick’s Day graphic. I added some cut lines that will leave a nice white border around each image.
You can print out as many of the checklist pages as needed. This will depend on how many kids will be participating in the scavenger hunt. If you will be printing out a lot of checklist pages, you can print them out in black and white only, if you’d like to save some ink.
Please feel free to download and print as many copies of the St. Patrick’s scavenger hunt game as you would like. However, please do not edit or redistribute the game files in any way. This scavenger hunt game was created for personal or classroom use only.
Favorite Printable Supplies:
These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use for printable games and activities:
- White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
- Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
- Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
- Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
- Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
- Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
- Printer: A high quality printer is always recommended for the best results. If you are in need of a printer this Brother Wireless Printer is a great choice.
