Everyday my kids come home from school with their backpacks overflowing with crafts, drawings and completed schoolwork. Not to mention the artwork they are always working on at home!

While I definitely keep some special projects hung up around the house, I unfortunately can’t keep everything. With that being said, I want to make sure I keep schoolwork and crafts that we as a family can look back on as the kids grow up.

This year, I decided I was going to make a small keepsake book that the kids can fill out each December. Something that encompasses memories, their current favorites and also showcases their drawing skills.

Family page
Here, your child can either draw a picture of their family or tape or glue in a photo of their choice.

When I grow up page:
On this page, your child or you will write down what they want to be when they grow up. They can then draw a picture of them doing their future job!

Looking back and looking ahead:

This page is divided into two sections. The first section will include the following prompts:

  • My best memory
  • Something I am proud of

The second half includes three lines for your child to write down things that they want to do or accomplish in the year to come.

How to assemble the book

First, print out the five pages onto white printer paper or cardstock. If you’d like, you can print on both sides of the page and save some paper.

Next, staple the lefthand side or corner of the book to keep all of the pages together.

Finally, have your child fill in all of the pages and enjoy your new year in review keepsake. You can reprint the book out year after year and make a tradition out of drawing the pictures and answering the questions.

Think of how fun it will be to look back and see how their responses have changed, how their abilities have improved and overall how they have grown.
