The xTool M1 Ultra is an incredible machine that integrates four key functions. These functions include laser cutting and engraving, knife cutting, pen drawing and inkjet printing. It is an amazing tool for turning your creative ideas into reality.
Being an artist for my whole life, I’ve always greatly valued the significance of handmade gifts. And what better time to show off your creativity and crafting skills than Christmastime.
When possible, I absolutely love making personalized gifts for friends or family.
In this post, I am going to give a quick tutorial on how to create your very own Christmas themed tic tac toe board. It is an excellent gift for kids (or parents who need to entertain those kids on the go!).
I have created a free SVG file that you can download and use for your own personal use. Feel free to try it out for yourself!
But before I get into that, I just wanted to quickly rave about my new favorite machine, the xTool M1 Ultra.

Pinpoint Positioning and Snapshot Feature: One of my favorite features is the Snapshot Function. It significantly sped up my workflow. For example, recently I needed to engrave a large group of products. Using the Snapshot Feature, I photographed the layout of materials on the honeycomb riser base which then uploaded directly to the Creative Space app on my desktop. This allowed me to easily align the graphics and engrave multiple items with perfection.
The xTool M1 Ultra handles a wide array of materials and projects, everything from wood and paper crafts to stone, leather and everything in between. Despite receiving the machine for review, I ended up purchasing additional materials and accessories because I was so impressed by its capabilities. It truly sparked my creativity!
The xTool M1 Ultra Riser Base Kit
I highly recommend adding the Riser Base Kit to your xTool M1 Ultra. This kit significantly enhances the machine’s ability to handle different types of materials and the thicknesses of those materials. Additionally, when paired with another accessory, the rotary tool, it enables you to engrave curved surfaces like mugs, tumblers, rings, and more.
How to make a Christmas Tic Tac Toe Board
Supplies needed:
- xTool M1 Ultra
- Riser Base with Honeycomb Panel (highly recommended)
- 1/8” Basswood Plywood Sheets
- Glue
- Drawstring bags (optional)
The first thing I did was create an SVG file for this project. I invite you to download it for yourself by simply clicking on the image at the bottom of this post. Once clicked, it should download to your computer.
Feel free to use this file for your personal projects. However, if you are planning on selling the end result, please reach out to [email protected] to inquire about commercial licensing.
Once the design has been download, upload it to Creative Space. I made sure to set the material to 3mm Basswood and used the laser module to laser on a flat service.
I attached the wood to the honeycomb riser base using the provided magnets and found it was extremely secure.
I then specified the distance of the material from the laser and went onto the processing phase.
Note: In this file, you just have to make sure that the outlines are set to “cut” and the words “Tic Tac Toe” are set to engrave. You can run both operations during the same process.
A short time later, my tic tac toe board along with the Christmas themed pieces were engraved, cutout and ready to go.
Next turn the front tic tac toe panel over and place glue onto the back. Place attach the back of the board and when flipped over you should now see that the nine boxes appears as if they are inset into the wood.
Your Christmas tic tac toe board is now ready to play and gift to friends and family!
I also included a simple drawstring bag to contain all of the tree and stocking pieces.
Another fun idea would be to personalize the top of the game board with the persons name to whom you are gifting it to. It is a great personal gift that will surely be used over and over again.
From personal experience, these types of items are just great for keeping in your bag and having ready at restaurants or wherever kids need to be entertained!
