Bridal showers typically consist of friends and family members from all walks of life. Childhood friends, co-workers, distant relatives etc. It can be hard to figure out a way to get everyone to successfully mingle with one another. That is where fun games and activities come into play!
This free printable bridal shower scattergories game is a really great way to ensure that your guests have a great time, while also getting to know one another.

What is included in the Bridal Shower Scattergories PDF download:
- 1 instruction page which includes letters that you can cut out. Alternatively, you can use one of these really cool alphabet dice if you have one!
- 1 page that includes 2 sets of answers cards. Depending on how many guests will be playing, you will need print out multiples of this page.
- 1 page that includes 2 sets of wedding themed categories cards. Since each player will need their own set of categories cards, you will also have to print out multiples of this page as well, depending on the number of guests that will be attending your bridal shower.
The bridal shower scattergories game was designed to print on standard 8.5×11 inch pieces of paper. Since 2 sets of categories cards and 2 sets of answer cards will print per page, you will need to trim everything apart using scissors or a paper cutter.
Currently, I am using this paper cutter. It definitely gets a ton of use and I can highly recommend it!
How do you play scattegories?
The first thing you’ll want to do it cut out the letters on the instruction page provided. Place the letters into a small container or hat. One person will close their eyes and choose one letter at random.
If you happen to have an alphabet dice like this one, you can roll it to choose the selected letter instead.
Set a timer for 3 minutes. If any younger children will be attending the bridal shower, you might want to set the timer length for a little bit longer.
Using the categories cards, each guest will have to come up with answers that begin with the selected letter. This bridal shower scattergories game includes categories and cards for two rounds of play.
Each guest will write down as many answers as they can before the timer runs out. If you happen to get stumped on one particular category, feel free to skip it and then return back to it at a later time, if time allows.
Once the timer runs out, everyone will read out their answers and compare them with the other guests or teams. If there is another person or team that has a duplicate answer as you, you both must cross off that answer off your list. Whoever person has the most unique answers at the end of the game, can win a prize!
Tip: It is a good idea to try and think of the most unique answers that you can. Here’s an example, if you are working with the letter “P” and need to come up with an answer for the category “a bridesmaid dress color” you could say “plum” instead of “purple.” More people will most likely think of the color purple, instead of plum, which will give you the most unique answer!
Is bridal shower scattergories any different than a regular game of scattergories?
Not really! The only actual difference is that instead of working from a general category list, everything on the cards will be bridal shower or wedding related.

Is it possible to play scattergories in teams?
Yes, definitely! And for larger parties, I would absolutely recommend it! It will make a great ice breaker to have all of your guests get to know one another.
It also is a really great way to make things a little more competitive, and fun!
Having each table at the bridal shower break into their own team would be a great idea. You could even encourage them to make their own team names!
If you are playing scattergories in groups, I would highly recommend setting the timer for a little bit longer than if each person was playing individually. This way, each person on the team can have a say in their answer suggestion, without things being too rushed.
After the time is up, one member from each team will read out their group answer for each of the categories. If there is another team that has the same answer as them, both of the teams must cross that category item off of their list.
