Recently, for one of my kids’ birthdays, his teacher gave him a fun birthday crown to wear at school all day. He loved it so much that I decided to make a printable version for his brother to wear at home as well. You can find the free printable birthday crown download link here.

It got me thinking that I could make more crown for other holidays as well. And since Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, I thought it would be fitting to make a Valentine’s Day crown!

With minimal supplies, your child can color in and assemble their very own crown to wear this February 14th.

This activity is perfect for teachers who want to have their students make a cute Valentine’s Day hat to wear, or a parent who wants to set up a quick fun activity at home.

Materials needed to create one Valentine’s Day crown:

  • White cardstock (printer paper would work as well but cardstock is definitely recommended)
  • Crayons, markers or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue

How to assemble the Valentine’s Day crown

First, download and print out the free crown pdf that is located at the bottom of this post.

Next, have your students or kids color in their Valentine’s Day hat. When they are done, you can now cut out all of the pieces. If they are old enough to use scissors this would also make a great scissor skills project.

Tape or glue one of the side sections to either the left or right side of the middle crown piece. If the child needs to have a larger hat, you can also glue or tape on the second side section to the middle crown piece as well.

Wrap the hat around the child’s head then then tape it into place. You can then cut off any excess paper off of the side section as needed.

Favorite Supplies:

These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use and LOVE!

  • White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
  • Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
  • Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
  • Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
  • Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
  • Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
  • Printer: A high quality printer is always recommended for the best results. If you are in need of a printer this Brother Wireless Printer is a great choice.
