This free printable Valentine’s Day word scramble game will be the perfect activity to play at any holiday party this February 14th.
I have always loved word scrambles. They are challenging, fun and it always feels great when I finally am able to solve a word that I had been struggling with.
The thing I like about holiday or themed word scrambles is that it makes unscrambling the words just a tiny bit easier. This way, I know what general category each word should fall in.

My favorite part about Valentine’s Day is most definitely the candy and chocolate! My husband is well aware that I would absolutely prefer chocolate over any kind of flowers or jewelry. Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate, crunch, caramel.. you get the idea! I just love any kind of chocolate!
I think one of the best Valentine’s gift’s my husband has given me over the years has to be a bouquet of chocolate flowers that he put together himself. He attached full sized Herhey’s chocolate bars onto wooden sticks and stuck them in some foam in a little pink flower pot. I won’t disclose how long it took me to eat all of those candy bars but I can tell you none of them went to waste!
Honey, if you happen to be reading this right now.. hint hint! Even if Valentine’s Day has already passed, I would never say no to a chocolate bouquet!
But I know there is a lot more to Valentine’s Day than just eating chocolate all day! That is why I’ve created this fun free printable Valentine’s Day word scramble game.
This Valentine’s Day word scramble features 12 love themed words to solve. There are both long and short words which makes it a great game for plenty of different age groups. Personally, I often find the shorter words harder to solve sometimes!
The word scramble is a great activity to play at classroom holiday parties, children’s play dates or during a family game night.
Here are a few ways to make word search games a little more challenging (and competitive!):
Set a timer.
Set a timer for 5 minutes. Have everyone try and unscramble the words as quickly as they can. Whoever has the most words solved by the time the timer goes off, wins!
Make it into a raffle.
This idea is great if you are playing in a large group at a holiday party. Have everyone work on the word scramble puzzle at their leisure. Once they have their game completed, each person will write their name at the top of the page fold it up and then place into a large box. At the end of the party, the host will choose one piece of paper out of the box, and whoever’s game is chosen, will win a prize!
Be sure to check the answers are correct first though! Any wrong answers and the prize goes to the second drawn winner.
Make it a head to head contest.
No timer required for this one! Hand out the word scramble games to all of the players that will be participating in the contest. When the host says “GO,” everyone will need to unscramble all of the words as quickly as possible. Whoever correctly solves all of the words first, wins!
Are you a teacher? Then, you may want to make the word scramble games reusable.
If you are planning on using the Valentine’s Day word scramble as a yearly holiday activity for your classroom, you may want to save some time each year (and a few trees!) by making the games reusable. Here are a few ways you can do so:
Laminate the word scramble games.
If you have access to a home lamination machine, you can simply laminate each word scramble game and then use a dry erase marker to have your students write down their answers. Once they have completed the activity, you can wipe off the answers and store them away to be reused for next year. This is the home lamination machine that I actually have in my office.
Use dry erase pockets.
If you don’t have a lamination machine, you can use these fun dry erase pockets instead. All you need to do is place the games inside and use dry erase markers to write down the answers. When you’re done, just wipe off the answers and reuse the games again next year!
**Note: For both of these lamination suggestions, I would highly recommend printing out the word scramble games onto white cardstock. This will ensure they are durable and can withstand being reused from year to year.

The Valentine’s Day word scramble game is designed to print on a standard 8.5×11 inch piece of paper or cardstock. Two games will print per page. You can cut the two games apart using scissors or a paper cutter. This is the paper cutter that I currently use and can definitely recommend it!.
