With this free printable pop up birthday card template you can have an adorable DIY card complete in just minutes! Great for last minute parties or just a fun way for your kids to make their own cards.

I always love having my kids draw their own birthday cards for family members and friends. A sweet personal touch really goes a long way.
However, I wanted to figure out a way for my youngest son to create a birthday card without having to write anything or color in the lines.
That is when I decided to create a few printable birthday cards that he could just color in. And to make it extra fun, I included a pop up element to the inside.
I initially thought pop up cards were difficult to make and so I avoided them for the longest time. But when I actually tried to make one, it was fairly simple and today I’m excited to share with you this free printable pop up birthday card template.
Materials needed to make one pop up card:
- Free printable template (download link located at the bottom of this post)
- Crayons, markers or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- 2 pieces of white cardstock
How to assemble the pop up card:
First print out the two page birthday card template using the free download link at the bottom of this post. Then using crayons, markers or colored pencils, color in the front and inside of the card.
Next cut out the inner and outer cards as well s the pop up section along the dotted lines.
Fold the inside of the card in half and cut along the two dotted lines. This will form the pop up section that you will glue the “Have a great day” to.
Push the cut out section out and then glue the pop up piece onto the front of the fold like the diagram shown on the bottom of the template pdf.
Now unfold the inside of the card, glue the outside portion of the card to it and then fold in half.
The card should be approximately 4×6 inches/
While you can use standard printer paper, I would highly recommend using white cardstock to ensure the best quality card.
Free printable pop up birthday card
This card was designed to fit onto two standard 8.5×11 inch pieces of paper. Once trimmed and folded, the card will measure approximately 4×6 inches. Two pages are included, one for the inside of the card, and one for the outer layer of the card.
Feel free to download and print as many copies of the birthday card as you would like. However, please do not edit or redistribute the files in any way. This card was created for personal use only.
