With just a few supplies that you probably already have around the house, you can make this easy Fall craft for yourself.

Supplies needed to make a leaf paper chain:

How to make a leaf paper chain:

Step 1: Fold a piece of construction paper in half.

Start by folding a piece of construction paper in half longways. Next, cut the paper in half. To make this leaf paper chain you will only be using one half of the piece of paper. However, if you would like the chain to be longer, you can use the other half of the paper to make another paper chain and then attach them to one another.

For my sample chain, I used a 9×12 inch piece of construction paper. However, feel free to use any size paper you have around. Just make sure that the strip of paper ends up being a long rectangle.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half three times.

Next, fold the paper in half. Fold it in half a second time. Fold it again once more for a total of three folds.

Step 3: Unfold the of paper and then refold it again accordion style.

Next, unfold the strip of paper. Begin folding it again, but this time, accordion style. This means that you should fold one section in, turn the paper over and then fold the next section in. Repeat until the entire strip of paper is refolded.

Important: Once you have finished folding, make sure that the right side of the top fold opens up similar to if you are opening a book. The left side of the paper will be the folded side and should not open. This will make make sure that all of the leaves connect to one another.

Step 4: Draw half of the leaf shape.

Next, is to draw half of an leaf shape. You can follow the sample apple shape shown in the photo below or create your own design. The key is to make sure that you are only drawing half of the leaf.

Make sure that the right side of the leaf goes off the side of the page a little bit. As long as you do this, the leaves will connect to each other when the paper chain is opened.

Step 5: Cut out leaf and unfold.

Cut out the outline of the leaf and unfold the paper to reveal your leaf paper chain!

The chain will make four connected leaves. If you would like to make a longer paper chain, you can repeat this process as many times as you would like and then connect them together using glue or tape.
