What is included in the Easter Scattegories free download:

  • 1 instruction page including letters to cut out
  • 1 page containing 2 sets of answer cards (Depending on how many people will be playing the game, you may need to print out more sets of the answer cards.
  • 1 page containing 2 sets of categories cards (Every player will need their own set of categories cards. Feel free to print out multiples of this page depending on how many people you are playing with)

This Easter scattergories game is designed to print onto 3 standard sized 8.5×11 inch pieces of paper. Since two sets of categories cards and two sets of answer cards will print per page, you will need to trim them apart.

This is the paper cutter that I currently have on my work desk and I can highly recommend it as it definitely gets a ton of use!

Please feel free to download and print out as many copies of the scattergories game set as you would like. However, please do not edit or redistribute the game in any way. This Easter categories set was created for personal or classroom use only.

How do you play scattergories?

First, cut apart the letters on the instruction page and place them into a small bowl or a hat. Have one player close their eyes and choose a letter at random.

Set a timer for 3-5 minutes. If you are playing with younger kids, you might want to set the time duration for a little while longer.

Using the categories cards provided, each person will fill in answers that start with the previously chosen letter. This game set will include categories cards for 2 rounds of play.

Next, write down as many answers as you can before the timer goes off. If you get stuck on one category, you can skip it and return back to it later if there is any time left.

Tip: You want to try and come up with the most unique answers that you can think of. For example if the letter chosen is “P” and the category is “Something that is pink,” you may want to write down “Peony Flower” instead of “Peeps” since peeps is a more common answer.

When time is up, everyone will go around the room and compare their answers with the other players. If someone has the same answer as you, both of you must cross that time off of your lists. Whichever player has the most unique answers at the end of the game, wins!

Can you play scattergories in teams?

If you are playing the Easter scattergories game at a classroom or holiday party with a larger group of people, it might be fun to work in teams. Teams can make things a bit more competitive and fun!

With a large group of people, have everyone break up into teams of 4-5. Set a timer for somewhere around 5-6 minutes. If you are playing with smaller children, you may want to set the timer for a little bit longer of a duration.

Once the timer is up, have one person from each team read out their answers for each category. If any other team has the same answer, both teams must cross that item off of their list. The team with the most unique answers at the end of the game, wins!

Can you play scattergories with 1 or 2 people?

Sometimes, you may want to play scattergories by yourself or with a small group of people. Keep reading to find out how!

How to play scattergories with 1 person.

According to the official scattergoreis rules, you should have at least 2 people to play. However, I wanted to come up with a way that you could still play on your own!

Word games are great for long car rides, flights, or just a fun way to get you in the holiday spirit. Here we go!

First, print out a category card and answer card for yourself. You can either choose a random letter by cutting out the letter cards found on the instruction sheet and then placing them into a small bowl or a hat, or if you would like to challenge yourself a little more, you can choose a hard letter like W or Z.

Since you wouldn’t have any other players to compare your answers with, the second half of the game doesn’t really apply here. But, it would still be a lot of fun challenging yourself to come up with as many answers as possible before the timer goes off!

How to play scattergories with 2 people:

Playing scatterfories with 2 players is exactly the same as playing with a large group. Every person playing will receive one categories card and one answer sheet.

Next, they will each have to fill in the blanks and come up with as many answers that start with the selected letter as possible.

Once the timer goes off, the 2 players will compare their answers. Whichever player has the most unique answers at the end of the game, wins!
