If your kids are anything like mine, eating the icing and toppings while decorating gingerbread men is half the fun! As sweet (fun intended!) as that can be, too much sugar isn’t ideal.

Whether your kids want to decorate more cookies after they’ve all been eaten or they just want to work on a festive activity, this build a gingerbread craft is perfect for just that!

With minimal supplies, you can create your very own gingerbread man craft. One that is definitely worthy of hanging up around the house or classroom.

Supplies needed:

  • Free printable coloring page (the download link is located at the bottom of this post)
  • White printer paper or cardstock.
  • Markers, crayons or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Construction paper

How to assemble the gingerbread man craft:

Step 1: Print the coloring page.

Print out the coloring page onto white printer paper or cardstock.

Step 2: Color in the shapes.

Next, use crayons, markers or colored pencils to color in all of the shapes of the gingerbread man. You can color him in the typical gingerbread cookie colors or be as creative as you’d like and totally change it up!

Step 3: Cut out the shapes.

The next step is to cut out all of the shapes along the dotted lines.

If your children are able to safely use scissors, this would be a great time for them to practice their scissors skills. If your kids aren’t able to yet, you can cut out the shapes for them. Don’t worry! They can still participate in the next step of the project.

Step 4: Glue the gingerbread man together.

Finally, take out a piece of construction paper and begin by gluing down the gingerbread man’s body. Then you can add on his hat, buttons, scarf, squiggly icing lines and candy cane.

Your delicious looking gingerbread man is now ready for display!

Favorite Printable Supplies:

These are a few of my favorite supplies that I use for printable games and activities:

  • White Cardstock: For most projects, I recommend printing onto cardstock. It is much more durable than standard printer paper and often produces a higher quality print.
  • Crayons: A staple in any crafting household. Crayola is always the top notch choice!
  • Kid Friendly Safety Scissors: These are perfect for little kids learning how to use scissors. They cut paper but not fingers or hair!
  • Glue Sticks: These disappearing purple glue sticks are by far my favorite! I love buying them in bulk since we use them so often!
  • Lamination Machine: Laminating printables are a great way to make them last longer. If you are planning on laminating to make games reusable, be sure to get a bunch of dry erase markers as well.
  • Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
  • Printer: A high quality printer is always recommended for the best results. If you are in need of a printer this Brother Wireless Printer is a great choice.
