How do you play the game?
This activity is perfect to play at home, at a holiday party or even in the classroom.
At the top of the page there will be a word or a phrase. In this version, the word will be “Snowstorm.”
Using each letter only one time, you will have to come up with as many different words you can, using only the letters S,N,O,W,S,T,O,R,M.
Here’s a quick hint, there are 155 words you can make using only these letters.
Here are a few examples of words you can make to get you started:
- Motor
- Worms
- Towns
- Torn
- Moon
- Sort
- Roots
The goal of the activity is to write down as many different words as you can on the lines at the bottom of the page.
There are 30 numbered lines provided on the game sheet. However, if you would like to continue on, you can simply turn the page over and continue to write more words on the back of the page.
How to make printable games more challenging in a group setting:
If you are playing this game during a holiday party with a larger number of people, you might want to incorporate some of the following ideas in order to make the activity a bit more competitive and fun.
Set a timer.
Set a timer for 3-5 minutes. One the timer starts running, everyone has to try and come up with as many words as they can using only the letters the word snowstorm.
Once time runs out, whichever player was able to come up with the most amount of words, wins the game!
Turn it into a scattergories game
In this version of the game, all of the players will still try and come up with as many words as they can during the given timeframe. But they must make sure to come up with the most unique words that they can think of.
Once the time runs out, each player will go around the room and read their answers to the group and compare them. If there is another player that has the same answer as you, you both must cross that word off of your list. Whichever player has the most words the end, wins the game!

- Dry Erase Pockets: Dry erase pockets are a great alternative to using a lamination machine when wanting to make printable games and activities reusable.
